Pornography Part 2

This is a second post on pornography, I didn’t want the first post to go to terribly long but I do have some more to say on this subject.

If you read my first post you know that I believe the Bible is clear on this subject, pornography and masturbation is sin for we are to be holy, God says, “be holy for I the Lord thy God am holy” so there it is, settle it in your mind once and for all, it is sin.

And this is not the only sin you will find in the Church, here are a few more.

Greed, slander, drinking, gambling, hatred, unforgivness etc.

Did you know you cannot love both God and money? Did you know that if you do not forgive those who sin against you then God will not forgive you? You do believe in the Bible right? That is what it says. But let’s get to just this one sin.

“ Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Heb.12:1 NKJV

Notice he says, the sin, singular not sins plural. So we know that there is a sin, one sin that really gets to us. It is the hard one, the big one, the really tough impossible one.

For you it might be the P-word and the M-word or something else it doesn’t matter because there is an answer the there is deliverance. And I am going to walk you through it. And yes it is going to be hard but not impossible.

Think with me step by step what happens when you sin. Firstly you are tempted. This is covered in James when he says, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” Ja.1:14,15

The temptation in itself is not the sin, at least not yet, James says that when desire has conceived it gives birth to sin. So to sin is a process, the key is to step in and stop the step by step process. But how?

You are tempted, right then and now, you must respond correctly or you will automatically do the next step and then the next etc. and end up falling into sin, again. You are a Christian right? Jesus lives in your heart. You remember exactly who it is you are dealing with right? He is called the Everlasting Power in 1Tim.6:16 you know, the same power that created the whole universe…out of nothing!

And there He sits in your life waiting, doing nothing, it is for this very moment that He is waiting for, not that He wants you to fall into temptation but if you do He most certainly wants to be your deliverer in this moment. He is your Savior and your Deliverer, not just from the consequences of your sins but He want to save you from having to sin.

But there is a catch, He won’t automatically do it, you have to chose. He has great respect for your free will, he just simply will not violate it, he is waiting, you could say testing you to see what you are going to do..

I know I am belaboring this point but this is it, the point of temptation is where you enter the spiritual world, here is where the forces of good and evil do battle and you are a part of it. This is big, I can’t underscore the bigness of this single moment. God said to Cain, “sin desires to have you but you must conquer it.” You could also say Satan desires to have you but you must conquer him. This moment is where you will win or lose.

Now you are going to exercise your puny, weak, practically worthless faith. And don’t get me started about you having no faith. You have faith, it is just puny that’s all, but it is good enough. Surprisingly it doesn’t take much because it is Jesus who is going to do the heavy lifting. Your victory is certain provided… provide you put your trust in your Lord and Savior, say a prayer to Him, telling him you are putting your trust in Him for deliverance.

Is He going to deliver you? Yes! Instantly? No! You must hold on to him and wait for his deliverance. This is very important, remember the above quote in Hebrews? Remember, he said, let us run with endurance. You must endure. It is a requirement. Does it feel like you are suffering? Good. That too is required, you must suffer, get over it and just do it. If you don’t you will fail, it is that simple. Like my daughter who is a middle school teacher says to her students, suck it up buttercup. And then comes deliverance from Christ. Oh, how sweet it is!

In summary it goes down like this, first temptation, second trust, third endurance, fourth suffering, and finally deliverance.

You don’t need to sign up to some “p-word” course. They are scammers. They want to get into your wallet. All that God has to offer us is freely given. Christ freely came into your life, it cost you nothing. Christ will also freely deliver you from this sin and from all other sins, freely. Keep your money, Jesus wants you. Do you understand that? I hope you do, if you don’t you will in time, just put your trust in Him and hang on.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may he make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, may he lift up his countenance on you and give you peace. Amen.
