There is a new book out now treating this subject. Blah blah blah. Why is it that the Christian church is clueless about what the Devil is up to.
Don’t bother buying the book, he is clueless too, and maybe so are you. So let us think about these things for awhile and see what we come up with. First off stop right now and write down on a piece of paper what you think the answer is, then read on and see if we agree.
“So the Lord said to Joshua: ‘Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? Israel has sinned…” “there is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel: you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.” Jos.7:10,13 partial NKJV
Yes I know, it is the old testament, it is not relevant for today. Not true. 2Tim.3:16 says,”All scriptures is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
Back to Joshua, there was sin in the camp, it is called the sin of Achan. As a result of his sin he was stoned to death. Harsh but effective you could say, but because of his sin he was ruining everything for everybody. It was a big deal and Israel was not going anywhere until it dealt with it. With this sin in the camp they were not able to defeat their enemies, they went out to battle and got routed.
These things were written down to teach us spiritual truths. We are to learn from Achan’s mistakes. He had sin in his life and it cost him his life. Do you have sin in your life? Of course you do but what does that have to do with “satan’s biggest most dangerous trick” I’m getting to that just be patient.
What about your church? Would you say that relatively speaking you are all in the same boat. Harboring some sin but not really big sinners? Yes? Okay, we are getting somewhere. Now let’s talk about your belief system, do you believe in eternal security? Your do? I don’t but I am going to give you some slack and let’s pretend you are right and I am wrong. It is okay, we can let our hair down and talk frankly to each other, we are brothers we are family we can talk openly with each other and still be friends.
Being that you are eternally secure which I suppose that means no matter what, barring some serious walking away from the Lord, so except for extreme cases you are in. Congratulations! As for me, I’m saved but I believe I have to live a sanctified life or else I will lose my salvation. So I guess you could say your theology is superior, but I would disagree but let us stay on point, Satan’s tricks.
Being that you have your salvation locked up it gives you certain liberties, some are good liberties and some bad. For instance if you were to sin you know that it is not going to knock you off your status as “always saved”, but you know sin is bad and you shouldn’t do it, so you try to throttle down your sinning somewhat. You also understand that you don’t have to stop sinning altogether because you know your safe.
Now let me ask you a question, how is that going for you? Even though you are trying to throttle down your sin level somewhat do you still find that you are still living in sin, walking in sin, addicted to your favorite sin? Yes? You realize it is a problem and you have begun to realize the power of sin, it is addicting, heroin addicts have to stop taking heroin completely or they are back at it, but you, you keep on sinning somewhat and you think you have control over it but you finally realize you can’t stop, but you don’t think it will affect your salvation.
Next question, since you know sin is displeasing to our Lord why don’t you just stop sinning? Do you have to sin? I will answer that question for you, no you don’t. You know you have the Power of God living within you, Jesus lives in your heart, Jesus the everlasting powerful one. But you can’t seem to engage that power to help you with your sin.
You can’t figure it all out so you compromise with your sin. You make the decision that you will keep your sins but you will try your best to throttle it down somewhat so you will feel better about yourself and other Christians will think better of you. And of course you are going to hid your sins from others, that’s okay we all do that.
Now we can finally talk about the title of this piece, Satan’s biggest most dangerous trick. It is the simple fact that he has us by the kahunas and there is nothing we can do about it, we are slaves to our sin and he is our master, but say no more, shhh the devil doesn’t want anyone to know what he is up to. He prefers to stay in the background and have us talk about some of the other exterior things he is up to, and there is a lot of things he is up to like trying to destroy our country (USA).
And all the time that he has you by the kahuna’s you keep sounding off about how you belong to Christ. That is good, that is exactly what Satan wants you to do, he wants you to think you are free in Christ, it doesn’t matter to him because after all he’s got you by the kahuna’s, you are had, so go ahead and praise the Lord and get that fuzzy feeling going, Satan doesn’t care.
Just be glad your belief system isn’t the same as mine because if I am the one who’s reading the Bible right unless you get yourself untangled from your mess you are going to end up in hell. You do know that the Bible is adamant about holiness for it says, “Be holy for without holiness no one will see the Lord.”
Maybe I should title this post, Satan’s biggest most dangerous trick, exposed!
P.S. what did you write down?
