Chapter 8 Victory

“This is the victory that overcomes the world – our faith.” 1Jn5:4

After the prior couple chapters I sense you are ready for me to quit beating around the bush the tell you what you want to know, how to get the victory. The secret (if you want to call it that) is to put your complete trust in Christ Jesus to step in and fight for you so you don’t have to do the fighting yourself, and you know why right? You are gonna lose these big battles with the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. You need help, big help, a lot of help.  Indeed you need a rescuer, a redeemer, a savior. Someone who wields a big sword, a really big sword. Someone you can  hide behind like a little child and watch him do all the fighting for you.

Personally in my minds eye I prostrate myself before Him, I warp my arms around His feet and I tell Him in not letting go until He rescues me, even if I die waiting I will wait for Him to deliver me. “ I am so weak Lord and my enemy is so strong, I can’t fight him alone I need you to fight for me for I know you have the power to rescue me, so please rescue me, I’m not going to let go of you until you do, I will die right here at your feet waiting, but please come quickly.”

It works. It works every time. He is our savior. He is our redeemer, our rescuer a very present help in time of need.

You may have different experience then me. Its an individual thing, like I said before it’s  Mano v Mano in this case just you and your Lord one on one. Really it is a three some you, satan, and Jesus. The devil would like to take you on Mano v Mano because he knows he can easily kick your butt into the next county and that with his hands tied behind his back. You are no match for him. You are the weak one who’s being tempted and Christ is your strong one who dwells in you and has the power to easily deliver you. It is up to you to tap into His power and you are going to do it with your faith. You are going to put your trust in Him and you are not going to give up until He comes and rescues you.

This is a huge battle. If this is your first time it is even bigger. The first time is going to be the hardest. He will deliver you, I personally promise you, even better He personally has promised us. This is what He is good at (I’m talking like a fool) but He delights in delivering His children. He delights to here us calling on Him. This is what it is all about.  

If you did indeed get the victory, congratulations are in order but just remember you are weak and the tempter is not done with you, more temptations are on the way but the first one is the hardest the next one and the next one after that will be easier. Nothing succeeds like success. 

Keep up your guard, Jesus said, “pray that you enter not into temptation.” He knows we are weak, that dark area of temptations is not a good place to go. Yes He will deliver us again and again but don’t be stupid always stay on the straight and narrow path.

“But what about the loving God with all our hearts thing? Isn’t that what this book is all about? You are getting there even though right now you might not know it but trust me you are indeed getting there.

Sit back and ponder on what you have just accomplished, right at the time of your temptation you made the decision to pray and ask God to rescue you, then you trusted in Him and waited on Him for deliverance, then deliverance came. This is big, you have made a big step froward. Keep it up, trust me when i say this is the straight and narrow path that goes right into the heart of God. It won’t be long now and you are going to fall in love with Him.
