You are a Christian and you are depressed. Okay let’s talk about it, and no this is not your friendly therapist, I am your worst nightmare. I am going to shock therapy you into the space you are supposed to be in. So brace yourself weenie boy or girl and hold on for in approximately 10 minutes you are going to be cured.
I should say you will either be cured or you are going to be steaming hot mad at me, but I don’t care. Just for the record I have had my share of depression I have lived most of my life in a state of half depressed and half pretending I was normal just so I could function. You know, getting up and going to work, being a good husband and father, providing, doing the bare minimum required for a husband and father and employee. I get it.
But is it going to do us any good to complain about our “condition”? Nope. So lets get real. Let us start with a basic checklist.
- Did you invite Christ into your heart?
- Were you baptized as an adult?
- Are you convinced that Christ lives within you right now?
4. Did you truly repent of your sins?
5. Did you successfully repent of your sins?
The answer to number 5 is whether or not you have stopped sinning for the most part. Or I could say are you still living in sin, walking in sin or are addicted to some sin habit? If the answer is yes than you haven’t repented successfully you have only attempted to repent but have failed at it. Remember what John the Baptist said, “you brood of vipers, produce fruit in keeping with repentance, the ax is already laid at the root of the tree every tree that does not produce fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
So there you have it, pull your head out of your arse and focus on just exactly what is your Christian duty. And what is that? You are to repent successfully, that is it, don’t worry about anything else for now and focus on what arguably is the hardest thing you will ever do, stop sinning.
Next time you are tempted to sin what are you going to do? I can help you with that. You are going to put your trust in Christ the Power of God. Well looky here, look what I just found in your heart, Christ the Power of God or to put it briefly, POWER. Yes that is right you have way more than enough power residing in your life to live a holy life, and you probably didn’t even know it. So put your trust in Him the next time you are tempted to sin, hold on to Him, don’t let go, endure the temptation for a spell, wait for Him, again I say hold on, wait, trust, cry out, die, and then comes deliverance from your great and Almighty Savior. He is not the God of instant oatmeal, so wait a little while for him won’t you?
Now just rinse and repeat this process and bada bing bada boom you are living a victorious Christian life. Bye bye despondency hello love of God. Now go tell others what great things God has done for you.
And for heavens sake don’t go back to your sinful life, not now not ever. This is not a sprint it is a marathon so suck it up buttercup and make that life long commitment you made when you accepted Christ a…well a life long commitment. Don’t fink out on Christ, he is mighty to save, passionate in his love, abounding in mercy, but you don’t want to mess with Him because , and I am sure you will think I am crazy but He retains the power to send your sorry bacon or anyone else to hell if he is so inclined to do. That is if you piss him off with your sinful behavior.
So get real, get going, and let God rescue you.
