What is the correlation?
Is deliverance from death deliverance form sin?
Can you be delivered form death and not be delivered from sin?
I will get back to the sin/death thing in a minute. But first…
Do all of us love money?
No, not all of us love money just most of us. That may sound like a joke but it is not intended to be, most of us who call ourselves Christians love money and we spend a great deal of our time chasing after it.
So if you love money then admit it! Good, now you are on the path to recovery. You might say you have no need of recovery after all you are not an alcoholic or a drug addict or have a sexual addiction. All you want to do is make some money the more the better, a little money is fine for some folks but lets face it for most of us more is better.
But how much is enough? A reporter asked one of our dear billionaires if he thought he had enough money, he thought a moment and said, “just a little bit more”. Again, I think I know what you are thinking, “the wretch, filthy, rotten, greedy, selfish, thoughtless of others son of a bit**”.
So do you think you have enough money? Let me guess, you want just a little bit more, haha I got you, that is exactly what the billionaire said! You are no different then him (in that respect). Yeah I get it you haven’t made your first billion yet, probably not even your first million. But you too “desire” to be rich.
Paul in 1Timothy said, “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
What did Jesus say about this matter? “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16:13
“Well okay so I don’t love God as much as I should but at least I will have some of the good things in this life AND I will go to heaven. Its the best of both worlds,” you say.
Not so fast buddy boy. Firstly Jesus said that you will either hate the one and love the other. So if you love money then you hate Jesus. I know that sounds harsh but hey, that is what Jesus said, I am just quoting him. If you don’t like it well its a tough titty said the kitty but the milk is still good.
Secondly Paul also said, If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. 1Cor.16:22 That is kinda like what Jesus said.
So now let us circle back to the title of this piece. “Is death sin?, Or is Sin Death?”. I titled it that so you would have to think.
Loving money is indeed a sin and it will indeed lead to death.
“Does that mean I will go to hell then?” You ask. Well the short answer is you are on that broad road that leads to destruction. You can still get off anytime you want but if you don’t get off then yes you will go to hell.
Christ expects nothing less then total devotion from his disciples. Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Lu9:23
Now why is that? Why does he expect us to be totally devoted to him?
Because He is totally devoted to you that’s why. He loved us and gave himself to us. “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” 1Pe3:18
To be totally devoted to God means to be totally faithful to Him and to His teachings. If you are not faithful to His teachings then you are not faithful to Him, they are one and the same. That is why Jude said that those who have changed the blessed gospel into a license to sin have denied Christ. With their lips I am sure they were confessing all the right things but their teachings which were contrary to what Christ taught made them deniers of the real Christ because they denied His teachings.
There are many so called “Christians” today who yuk it up and sin willy nilly and think nothing of it and I hope you are not one of them. Because if you are you are in big trouble.
“Well Calvin and Luther taught this and taught that.” Yada yada yada, who cares? Are their teachings gonna get you into heaven? Every word they spoke that is contrary to what Jesus and the Apostles taught is false.
Jesus said to beware of false teachers, that you would know them by their fruit. A bad tree does not produce good fruit.
I am sure you know who John Calvin is but do you know who Michael Servetus is? He is a man who Calvin had burned at the stake because he didn’t agree with what Calvin taught. Look it up, check it out you have Ai
You know Luther? He had Anabaptist Christians arrested interrogated tortured and if they didn’t recant…killed. This one is a little tougher to research try typing in your search engine, “That the Civil Magistracy Is Obligated to Apply Physical Punishment Against the Anabaptists.” A paper written in 1536 and signed by Luther and Melanchthon Luther’s right hand man.
Or for some light reading there is Luther’s “On the Jews And Their Lies” where he advocates the removal of all the Jews in Germany, burning their synagogues and taking all their valuables. It is a bit racist so you won’t find it on Amazon.
“A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.” Stick with the bible only and with what the early Christians taught. The early Christians wrote a lot and it is still available to us now. There is a 10 volume set called “The Pre-Nicea Church Fathers”. Or on Amazon there is individual books available for cheap. Folks like Justin Martyr, Clement of Alexandria, Ignatius, Ambrosiaster, Origen, Chrysostom and many more.
Do your homework, your eternal soul is at stake.
