Thy Kingdom Come…

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matt.6:10

We are praying in this petition for God’s kingdom to come back to earth. When Jesus came He brought the kingdom of God with Him, Jesus said many times, “repent for the kingdom of God is at hand”. Jesus is the King of that kingdom and wherever Jesus is the kingdom is with Him also. When He left He took the better part of the kingdom with Him, Himself. But He left all of us here and we are His subjects. We are praying for our King to come back and establish His kingdom here on earth.

A healthy nation has a growing population a sick one has a declining one. God’s kingdom  is made up of many people, people of every nation, tribe, tongue and people Rev.14:6 God’s kingdom had many subjects. after all what good is a kingdom without people? Is it a healthy Kingdom?

So we have a King and we have the subjects, so what else? Well we know that good ole mother earth is gonna be a part of His kingdom along with heaven itself. Now the nuts and bolts of how all of this is gonna work I don’t know actually, nobody does but it doesn’t matter because the primary parts of this Kingdom we know for sure are Jesus Christ the King and all of HIs subjects (us) and that is who and what we should be praying for.

God’s kingdom is growing and is healthy but always has its needs, it is a needy Church. Those of us in America have it pretty easy but we should think about our fellow brothers and sisters in far away lands who have it rough. Imagine you are a Palestinian Christian and you live in Gaza, have you had anything to eat today? What about yesterday, did you eat? Or your in North Korea with your wife and 2 year old child and you get caught with a bible in your house, the penalty for that is life in a concentration camp for all three of you.

Let’s circle back to America and other wealthy nations. The bible teaches us to be holy for without holiness no one will see the Lord. We should be praying for all God’s people who are struggling with this issue. It is imperative that we all get that first victory over sin under our belt. After that first battle it starts to get easier because we understand the mechanics of achieving the victory. It is a tough battle that millions are losing. What is Christ going to do with all these unholy saints?

Pray for the sanctification of all God’s children including yourself. In a spiritual sense this is a form of Christ setting up His kingdom in your heart. In your heart (soul) you have a throne room and in that throne room you have a throne. Christ wants to sit on the throne of your heart. That is a form of “Thy Kingdom Come”. You should want this for yourself and for all other Christians as well. Without it you will never experience the love of God and you will not receive the unbelievable kindness that God has in store for you.

How great is this love and kindness? Let me just say that those Palestinians and North Korean Christians who have Christ sitting on the throne of their lives are praying for YOU. They pity you and are praying the exact same prayer that you are praying, “thy kingdom come” they want you to have what they have.

One more thing, when praying for Christ to come back to earth and establish His kingdom here on earth, this will involve everything you read in Revelations. If you have read Revelations you know it is going to get good its is going to get bad and it is going to get ugly but in the end we win! That is, our hero King and His church will ultimately triumph.

With that in mind a good addendum to this petition would be to pray, “please come back soon dear Lord Jesus, we are waiting for you.”

“So when is He coming back?”, you might ask me. Well according to my back of the envelop calculation it is now less than two hundred years from now. That’s the best I can do. Will he come back tomorrow? Well yes and no. In the literal sense after reading Revelations and other verses like 1Thes.2:1-3 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition…

So literally it is going to be a while in my humble opinion. But lets talk about a different sense of His coming back, that is the day you die, in that scenario it’s actually you going up to Him rather than Christ coming down to you. But it produces the same results at least for the individual and probably just as scary, for you will have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ and be judged for the things you have done whether they be good or bad. Lord have mercy on us all on that day. And there is hope, I haven’t gotten to the “and forgive us our trespasses” part yet.

And “that day” could be any second now for you and for me, we owe every breath we take and every heart beat. We are in His hands, our lives are up to Him to do as He pleases.

I know we all have different “takes” on what the future events are going to be like and I wouldn’t be surprise that we are all wrong, everyone of us so don’t get hung up on these things just keep praying and use the Lord’s Prayer often, I kind of use it as a template and then add whatever else I want to say. If you can’t think of anything to say when praying then just recite the Lord’s Prayer, that is acceptable to God as long as your sincere.

God bless us all, amen.
